Sports

A student’s physical development is very important. Specialist PE staff work with students throughout the school, to ensure they have adequate opportunities to be active and develop skills including coordination, balance, control, team working and leadership.

Skills and Sportsmanship

Students at AIS enjoy a variety of opportunities that set out to develop skills and sportsmanship while striving for excellence and fostering talent. Specialist staff encourage all our students, whatever the age, to achieve their full potential, whilst ensuring a commitment to fair play and encouraging a philosophy of team spirit.  Depending on age, students compete in a range of sports, including cross country, hockey, tennis, volleyball, basketball, football and soccer, and track and field. Travelling to other international schools and tournaments around Europe to participate in various sporting events. Many of our senior students take on additional sports coaching roles and benefit from working with well qualified and experienced coaching staff.

Sports Facilities

Students and staff benefit from three large air-conditioned sports halls, with recently refurbished washrooms and upgraded heating systems. AIS has extensive playing fields with both astro turf and natural grass surfaces, floodlit sports facilities and an athletics track and stands.  Through our partnership with JFC HQ NATO Command we have regular weekly access to a 25m swimming pool.
