Summary of the International Advisory Committee meeting in June ’24

The International Advisory Committee (IAC) met on June 4, 2024 to discuss key topics related to the AFNORTH International School (AIS) for the 2024-2025 school year.
Key Points:
  • AIS Calendar: The calendar, combining four national calendars, does not align perfectly with Dutch national and NATO holidays. Synchronizing with Dutch holidays would impact the school year structure.
  • Bus Transportation: Community concerns were discussed, and AIS will conduct a parent survey to review current practices, policies, and communication regarding bus transport. The feasibility of installing cameras on buses, within GDPR regulations, is under investigation.
  • Ongoing Projects: The school is undergoing several renovations, including the roof (to be completed by summer 2025), science rooms, library, track repairs, and gym complex.
  • Emergency Notification System (ENS): An emergency communication system is available, with registration open from July 1, 2024.
  • International Wing: A feasibility study is underway to introduce an international curriculum starting in the 2025-2026 school year, with a potential pilot class in 2024-2025.
  • Additional Announcements: Family Day is scheduled for September 11, 2024, and a registration reminder for NATO name cards was issued. The next stakeholder meeting is scheduled to discuss the international wing.
