Update 1: Information for Parents, Students and Community on the Opening of AIS School Year 22/23

Dear Parents, Students and Community,
Dr Judith Allen
It is my pleasure to join the AFNORTH International School as the Director and to welcome you for School Year 2022-2023! I come to you from the Department of Defense Education Agency (DoDEA) and formerly as the Superintendent of the Pacific East District Office located on Yokota Air Base, Japan. I am excited about the opportunity to work in an international setting and in getting to know you and your children. I look forward to meeting each of you as we work together to provide the best school experience possible for our students.  They are the center of all we do and their success is paramount as we prepare them for the future.  Welcome again to a new school year!  Please feel free to stop by and say hello!
Dr. Judy Allen

Headlines for Parents

All AIS protocols and procedures remain unchanged and can be found on the AIS website on the Parent Portal https://afnorth-is.com/info-center/parent-support/The password to access the Parents Portal is accessed through your national office. We ask that you take a moment to go through these with your child/children at the start of the new school year.

  • Pre-screening ‘Parental Support Acknowledgment Form’ must be completed by all parents before starting school.
  • Bus Transportation will operate as usual.
Students must sit in the allocated seat for every journey. New students will be assigned a seat on the first day. We ask that you read through the bus procedures, safety rules and expectations with your child/children.
  • School Lunches will be available as usual to purchase with a hot meal available.

General reminder

  • We ask that you keep national sections informed of any situation where your child/family are a suspect/contact case for COVID 19. All information is held sensitively and protected. Self-tests are still available in the national section of the business office. In case of a positive Covid situation, the affected person needs to stay at home for 5 days until symptom free. As per normal, if your child is not feeling well or is sick, please have your child remain at home until they are healthy to come to school.

AIS Drop-off and Pick-up

There is a waiting area established just inside the pedestrian gate to assist in managing the drop-off and pick up of your child. To access this area where there is a MOD Guard on Duty, you will need: to show your ID card. Please remember that the parking directly outside the school gate is a ‘kiss and ride’ designated zone and is not used for parking. Tickets may be issued by the municipality to those who do not comply so please help us to be a good neighbor by following the rules! Additionally, extra vigilance is required when driving in this area.

Visitors to School

All visitors must first make an appointment with their national section. National sections will avoid making appointments before 0900am and at exit times for students. Visitors should come alone or should indicate how many people will be accompanying them. Visitors should pre-screen before coming to school. When you have any symptoms of feeling unwell, you cannot visit the school.
