Values-based Education

Values are the bedrock of education that helps students to find meaning and purpose for their lives.

At AFNORTH International School, we have adopted Values-based Education as the basis for our curriculum. We believe the future belongs to individuals who live their life guided by strong personal values, instinctively thinking outside of the box, curious and creative, and who can implement intelligent and practical solutions.

International School Award

In 2020, AFNORTH International School won the International School Award for implementing an initiative that encourages cohesion of values within a unique school community. Former School Director, Kathy Wood MBE, shared the journey International School Leader Magazine. Click below for the full story.

'My Experience with Values Based Education'

Alberto Adorno, 10th grade student at AFNORTH International School, made and eBook about his experiences with Values Based Education. Read it below.

VIDEO

In the two impressive videos below, students from AFNORTH International School are speaking from their hearts as well as their heads about values and how to show them in their lives. They are a powerful medium for inspiring others to adopt a values-based way of living.

Atalanta - Our Friendship Garden

The butterfly-shaped sensory garden in front of our school reflects our core values, the 6Cs: Collaboration, Creativity, Character, Communication, Citizenship and Critical Thinking.

The garden is a place to explore, relax, read, reflect; encourage mindfulness and stimulate creativity. It is designed with a purpose of stimulating the senses; encouraged to touch, smell and interact with environment. It provides linked pathways, steppingstones and seating for individual and quiet group interaction and is also a teaching and learning resource for encouraging mathematics, science, language and the arts.
