It seems it was only yesterday that we welcomed a new school year and yet, here we are, saying farewell to that very school year. We find ourselves wondering how it happened so quickly! During that time we prepared 40 senior high school students for “life after high school,” a scary thought for some, especially Mom and Dad! Yet, last Friday, 9 June, We saw 40 confident, talented, excited Young adults cross the stage to receive their diploma accompanied by a loving tribute from Mom and Dad. Such a pleasant memory for all involved.
On the other end of the spectrum, Young students left the familiarity of home to join the AFNORTH
family and to learn how to do school and discover amazing new things. Every “Leaver” from the
elementary school was recognized at an assembly by their peers and teachers. Each was given several mementos to tuck in their suitcase as they prepared to journey to their next location.
Our fantastic volunteers were recognized at a morning coffee/tea for the many hours spent working with teachers to support our students and classrooms. Our teachers were recognized by their leadership and parents for all of their many efforts in helping our students “be all they can be” during Teacher Appreciation Week!
All students enjoyed a picnic Style lunch of hot dogs and hamburgers, topped off by a special frozen popsicle, so yummy on a hot day. The teachers enjoyed an ice cream social where recognition was given to those who had been in the AFNORTH family for 5, 10, … etc. years. Teachers leaving or retiring were presented the famous AFNORTH TILE as a memento for their service and dedication to our school.
The halls will soon be quiet as everyone scatters to the four corners. Summer is a time to reflect, relax and recoup. It is also a time to enjoy family outings and being together. No matter what you do or where you go, stay safe and take care. We look forward to welcoming those of you who are returning back in August and those whose journey takes them elsewhere; we wish you well.
