AFNORTH TRANSPORTATION POLICY

Due to an increased volume of requests, strict enforcement of the current transportation policy will be in effect. Only sponsors/parents may request permission for their dependent/s to ride on a different bus or use a different stop for a short period of time due to extenuating circumstances. These requests will only be issued for such reasons as: hospital emergencies, deployment/TDY of the sponsor.

Students are not permited to ride the bus home with friends or to another address.
Emergency bus passes must be requested and approved by the AFNORTH Assistant Director, Robert Bindels.
Messages for day-to-day or weekly changes will no longer be handled by the school. Students are required to have a consistent transportation process to and from school on a regular basis.

Comfort & Safety

Students are transported in modern, comfortable and reliable buses/minibuses with seat belts compulsory for all passengers. In addition to the driver, Jacobs also employs a bus monitor on each bus who is responsible for ensuring that all the children are well behaved throughout the journey.

Each bus is equipped with the following:

  1. Air-conditioning
  2. Fire extinguisher
  3. Communication System i.e. mobile phone
  4. Adjustable seat/lap belt for every seat

Each bus operates a GPS tracking system with individual student cards. These cards are tapped on a reader as the students get on and off the bus, logging the date and time of boarding and egress.

The service is a safe, reliable way for children to travel to school. All children have an ID card that allows their journey to be tracked.

Registration

Please take time to read the Transportation Policies and Procedures carefully and keep the contact numbers readily accessible.

The service is based on a one-time registration scheme and you will need to register with the Bus Office at AFNORTH International School. Once signed up, the child’s name will be added to the service’s listing until we are otherwise notified in writing by parents or guardians. You can register using the form below. If you have an appointment arranged with the Bus Coordinator you will find the school bus office on the left side ground floor as you enter by the main entrance of the school.

The data collected is used not only for registration purposes but also in case of emergencies, such as breakdowns, accidents and/or incidents. If you move your station/office, change your address or phone number, you will need to notify your school registrar and the Bus Coordinator.
