Middle School

We offer a middle school program which is based on the Ontario Middle school curriculum.  Being in the International environment, we are able to offer many additions to the regular programming that are meant to enhance the student’s experience while they are here. Our middle school program fully prepares our students for high school courses that lead towards the granting of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma.

STEM vs. STEAM

STEAM is an integrated educational approach that uses Science , Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Mathematics as the foundation of exploration and learning.

Historically, STEM practices have been adopted in many schools. In more recent years there has been a movement to include the Arts as well, since very few professions work isolation. Therefore, the need to create inclusive learning environments that are dynamic, authentic and relevant to the real world. We believe that these opportunities will prepare our students better for success and to become productive members of society moving into the 21 st century.

With the STEAM approach, learning requires an intentional connection between curriculum expectations, assessments and lesson design. Ideally STEAM teachings involve two or more of the subject areas being taught
collaboratively and connectively. As in STEM activities, STEAM focus on hands-on activities and inquiry Collaborative planning, including a cross-section of teachers on each team.
